My Friend, a poem

Julia wrote a poem yesterday and I was blown away...she gave me permission to share it with our readers.

My Friend (to Evelyn, and all my friends!)

Past the place where dragons sleep,
Past the valleys, cool and deep,
Past the place of traffic's zoom,
Past my bed and past my room,
Past my house and past my tree,
Past the flower and buzzing bee,
Past the dogs and past their barks,
Past the swings and past the parks,
Past the skating, past the rink,
Past the sun that sets in pink,
Past the ocean, past the fish,
Past the stars' most greatest wish,
Past the sand and past the sea,
Past where wild things run free,
Past the moon and past the sun,
(now this poem is almost done!)
Us together, you and me,
Us together, running free,
Together we will always be,
Us together, you and me.

That...was publish-worthy. Or at least frame-worthy.

Go Jules!!

Julia,
That was
Truly a
Fabulous poem and way worth the time
I spent reading you rhyme
Now it's back to work for me
before my boss gets mad
and kicks me in the knee!
Love,
Uncle Sean with the broke up arm

Wow! I was already choked up by the second line, and now I'm holding back tears. Okay, I'm crying, a little. That was so beautiful in sentiment and so well crafted, I can't even believe it's from an 8-year-old child, except that that is just how boundless a child's heart can be. Her friends are very lucky. Thank you for sharing.

Very nice, I can't believe that beautiful poem was written by an 8 yr old. That would be something I would submit in a poetry contest.

That is GREAT!

Would you like to homeschool my kids? I could drop them off to you because obviously you are doing a great job teaching them. Good job mom!

WOWWW!!! That is absolutely amazing! And yes, publish-worthy! Quick, quick, copyright it!

Are you sure she's only 8?

:) Thanks for more compliments! Anonymous in Selden--do I know you? (just wondering if you are a homeschool friend making a joke, or what.)

j-m, how do I go about copyrighting? (seriously, I have no idea!)

I think the © should do it. If not, I dunno.

Julia, what a beautiful poem. I wish Evelyn was awake so that I could show her! It will put a huge smile on her face to read it and know that she is one of the special friends in your life! You are awesome!

I am not kidding! You don't know me, but I live on the NF also. That poem really is amazing and really shows what a great job you are doing homeschooling!
Mine are in public and aren't writing poems like that!
So can I drop them off to you? lol
