Autumn Antics

We have had a couple of days of unseasonably cool weather---like fall has arrived. Since last weekend, the mornings have been chilly (in the 50s) and the nights have been in the 40s. It warms up to around 70, with the bluest skies you've ever seen, but the feeling is much more fall than summer. The fact that the weekend temperatures are supposed to hit the mid-80s again hasn't stopped the kids from wanting to get all the winter clothes from the attic, and Rachel went so far as to actually switch hers over. (Since I have to do Julia, Ben, and Emma's they won't have their things for a while yet...) Anyway, Julia has written a poem to welcome fall.

Autumn Antics
by Julia E.

Crispy leaves falling, colors red, orange and gold
Drifting down upon the ground before the winter's cold.
Out of all four seasons, the very best of all is:
AUTUMN! AUTUMN! AUTUMN! FALL! FALL! FALL!
Piles of leaves to jump in, cups of hot cocoa, too.
Crispy fires burning, I just love fall, don't you?
Now snowflakes start a-fallin', and trees are getting bare,
and now if we go outside, warm woolies we must wear.
No more crispy leaves to jump in, no more chilly sun shining in the blue.
Oh, dear--now fall is over!
BOO HOO! BOO HOO! BOO HOO!

Jen
